Our StoryHi, I’m Maritza Abreu — you can call me Mari! As the founder and CEO of Pisqueya, I’m passionate about sharing the rich flavors of my Dominican heritage. Though I was raised on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, I spent countless hours in Brooklyn at my family's restaurant, Puerto Viejo, where I learned the values of family, love, and hospitality. My parents’ journey from the Dominican Republic to NYC instilled in me the importance of community and resilience. After recognizing a gap in authentic Latin-Caribbean flavors on store shelves, I took the leap to leave my corporate job and bottle my family’s cherished recipes. With Pisqueya, we celebrate our culture and invite everyone to gather around the table.Welcome to our family! |
Our Culinary HeritagePisqueya [pees-keh-yah] is a celebration of my family's culinary legacy and the vibrant flavors of Latin-Caribbean cuisine. Our journey began at Puerto Viejo, my parents’ Brooklyn restaurant and the oldest Dominican restaurant in NYC, where our community flourished around the authentic tastes of home. After a devastating fire nearly took away our dream, the outpouring of support from our neighbors reaffirmed our place in Brooklyn and inspired the creation of Pisqueya. Our line of all-natural sauces and seasonings honors the spirit of togetherness and expands the representation of Latin-Caribbean cuisine in the global food market, inviting everyone to experience the warmth and richness of our flavors. |
