We invented the name using two words: PIcante + quiSQUEYA = PISQUEYA
- Picante is the spanish word for Spicy and Hot.
- Quisqueya is the original native name for the island that comprises the Dominican Republic and Haiti. It is believed to mean “mother of all lands” in the Taino language.

The island of the Dominican Republic has some of the most interesting lizards in the world and like Pisqueya, they are not poisonous but rather enjoyable and useful to have around. Unfortunately due to illegal deforestation, lizards in the Caribbean are endangered. Maritza, the founder, wanted to highlight their beauty.
